Maurice Gontran
Maurice Gontran was an only son who died at the age of eighteen from tuberculosis. He was exceptionally intelligent, mature beyond his years, gentle, affectionate, and deeply devoted to study. He had successfully completed his early education and was preparing for admission to the prestigious Polytechnic School when illness ended his life on Earth.
His parents were devastated by his death. Because Maurice had always been physically delicate, they blamed themselves for encouraging his intense studies, believing that overwork had caused his premature death. They bitterly regretted his education and wondered what use all his learning had been now that he was gone. Later, however, after discovering Spiritism, they found comfort through the communications received from their son.
AllanMy dear Maurice, I know how deeply attached you were to your parents.
AllanI can't doubt that you would wish to comfort them if possible.
AllanTheir grief — almost despair — after your death has damaged their health and made them lose interest in life itself.
AllanPerhaps a few loving words from you could restore hope to them.
The medium’s hand begins writing...
Maurice GontranDear old friend...
Maurice GontranI have been waiting impatiently for this opportunity to communicate with them.
Maurice GontranMy parents’ sorrow deeply pains me.
Maurice GontranBut their grief will soften once they truly understand that I'm not lost to them.
Maurice GontranYou must help convince them of this truth.
Maurice GontranAnd I already foresee that you will succeed.
Maurice GontranThis painful event was necessary in order to lead them toward a belief that will eventually bring them peace and happiness.
Maurice GontranIt was meant to prevent them from rebelling against the wisdom of God.
Maurice GontranAs you know, my father was very skeptical about life after death.
Maurice GontranGod allowed this sorrow to reach him in order to awaken him from that error.
Maurice GontranWe will meet again in the world where human suffering no longer exists.
Maurice GontranI have merely gone there before them.
Maurice GontranBut tell them this clearly:
Maurice GontranIf they continue doubting the goodness of God, they will delay the joy of seeing me again.
Maurice GontranSuch distrust could even prevent me from communicating with them during the remainder of their lives on Earth.
Maurice GontranDespair is a rebellion against the will of God.
Maurice GontranAnd such rebellion always prolongs the suffering that caused the despair until the soul finally accepts the trial imposed upon it.
Maurice GontranDespair is a kind of suicide.
Maurice GontranIt destroys the health of the body.
Maurice GontranAnd the person who shortens his life hoping to escape sorrow more quickly prepares only a terrible disappointment for himself.
Maurice GontranOn the contrary, one must preserve physical strength in order to better endure earthly trials.
Maurice GontranMy beloved parents...
Maurice GontranIt is now directly to you that I speak.
Maurice GontranFrom the moment I left my physical body, I have never ceased being near you.
Maurice GontranIn fact, I'm with you even more often now than when I lived on Earth.
Maurice GontranSo, be comforted.
Maurice GontranI'm not dead.
Maurice GontranI'm more alive than you are.
Maurice GontranOnly my body has died.
Maurice GontranMy soul continues to live.
Maurice GontranI'm free.
Maurice GontranI'm happy.
Maurice GontranI'm beyond the reach of disease, weakness, and pain.
Maurice GontranInstead of grieving my departure, you should rejoice knowing that I now live in a place free from anxiety and suffering...
Maurice GontranA place where the heart overflows with pure and complete happiness.
Maurice GontranAh, my friends...
Maurice GontranDon't mourn excessively for those who die young.
Maurice GontranIt is often a mercy granted by God to souls who no longer need the trials of life on Earth.
Maurice GontranMy final life on Earth was not meant to continue any longer.
Maurice GontranI had already acquired everything necessary to prepare me for a more important mission that I will fulfill later.
Maurice GontranHad I remained longer on Earth, who knows what dangerous temptations I might have encountered?
Maurice GontranPerhaps I was not yet strong enough to resist all the seductions of life on Earth.
Maurice GontranI might have fallen...
Maurice GontranAnd delayed my spiritual progress for hundreds of years.
Maurice GontranWhy should those who love me regret what has become such a blessing for me?
Maurice GontranEndless grief in such circumstances reflects a lack of faith.
Maurice GontranOnly those who believe in total annihilation after death are truly without consolation.
Maurice GontranSuch people deserve great pity...
Maurice GontranBecause for them, those they love are lost forever.
Maurice GontranThe grave destroys their final hope.
AllanWas your death painful?
Maurice GontranNo.
Maurice GontranI suffered only from the illness before dying.
Maurice GontranBut as the final moments approached, even that suffering gradually weakened.
Maurice GontranThen one day, I simply fell asleep without thinking about death.
Maurice GontranI began to dream.
Maurice GontranSuch a beautiful dream.
Maurice GontranI dreamed that I had recovered.
Maurice GontranI no longer felt pain.
Maurice GontranI breathed freely with healthy lungs and indescribable joy.
Maurice GontranThe air around me felt fragrant and full of life.
Maurice GontranI felt myself carried through space by an unknown force.
Maurice GontranI was surrounded by a brilliant light whose splendor dazzled me without hurting my eyes.
Maurice GontranThen I saw my grandfather.
Maurice GontranHis face was no longer thin and worn from age.
Maurice GontranHe appeared young and full of life.
Maurice GontranHe opened his arms and embraced me joyfully.
Maurice GontranMany other people came with him.
Maurice GontranAll of them smiled warmly as they welcomed me.
Maurice GontranI seemed to recognize them.
Maurice GontranI felt happy to see them again.
Maurice GontranWe exchanged loving greetings and friendship.
Maurice GontranWhat I believed to be a dream was actually reality.
Maurice GontranI was never again to awaken on Earth.
Maurice GontranInstead, I had awakened within the spirit world.
AllanWas your illness caused by excessive study?
Maurice GontranNo.
Maurice GontranBe completely certain that it was not.
Maurice GontranThe length of my life on Earth had already been determined beforehand.
Maurice GontranNothing could have kept me on Earth any longer.
Maurice GontranDuring the moments when my spirit partially detached itself during bodily sleep, I already knew this inwardly.
Maurice GontranAnd my spirit rejoiced at the thought of its approaching liberation.
Maurice GontranBut my time on Earth was not wasted.
Maurice GontranI'm now very grateful that I did not neglect my studies.
Maurice GontranThe knowledge I acquired strengthened my soul and expanded my understanding.
Maurice GontranThat knowledge was not lost.
Maurice GontranEven though I could not fully use it during my short life on Earth, I will apply it even more effectively during a future existence.
Maurice GontranFarewell, dear friend.
Maurice GontranI'm now going to visit my parents in order to prepare them to receive this communication.
