Adelaide Margaret Gosse

Adelaide Margaret Gosse was a poor servant girl from Normandy. As a child she entered the service of a farming family. After floods and ruin destroyed their livelihood, she gave them all her savings, kept serving without wages, and later supported their widowed daughter for decades with her own work and her husband's wages. In old age she was publicly honored for her devotion. She died suddenly and without pain.

The medium’s hand begins writing...

AllanWe are glad you've come. We wanted to honor the devotion of your life on Earth. We hope your self-sacrifice has been rewarded.

Adelaide Margaret GosseYes. God rewarded His servant far beyond her merits. What I did, and what you find so praiseworthy, felt very natural to me.

AllanCan you tell us why you were placed in such a humble condition on Earth?

Adelaide Margaret GosseIn two earlier lives, I held a high position. It was easy for me to do good then. I gave, but without sacrifice, because I was rich. I saw that I was progressing too slowly. So I asked to return in a humbler life, where I would know poverty and hardship for myself. I prepared for that trial for a long time. With spirit help granted by God, I was able to reach the goal I had chosen.

AllanHave you met your former master and his family again? What is your relation to them now? Do you still see yourself as below them?

Adelaide Margaret GosseI met them again. They were waiting for me when I arrived in the spirit world. And I say this with humility... they now see me as far above them.

AllanDid you have a special reason for attaching yourself to them rather than to others?

Adelaide Margaret GosseI was not required to choose them. I could have reached the same result with others. But I chose them to repay a debt of gratitude. In a former life, they had been kind to me and had helped me.

AllanWhat do you foresee for your future?

Adelaide Margaret GosseI hope to be born again in a world where sorrow is unknown. Perhaps that may sound presumptuous. But I leave everything to God's decision.

AllanWe thank you for coming. We are sure God will bless you.

Adelaide Margaret GosseThank you. May God's blessing be with you as well. May all of you one day share, when you return to the spirit world, in the pure happiness I now enjoy.
